LEWISBURG, Pa. – A long road trip awaits the Bucknell women's volleyball team as it travels for a pair of Patriot League matches this weekend. On Friday the Bison will play at Holy Cross in a rematch of a thrilling contest in Lewisburg earlier this season, and on Saturday they will make the trip to West Point to take on Army.
Fans can watch both of this weekend's matches free of charge on the Patriot League Network. Friday's match begins at 7:05 p.m., while the first serve for Saturday's match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
If Bucknell's first match with Holy Cross this season is any indication, Friday night's match in Worcester, Massachusetts should be exciting. The Bison hung on for a wild 3-1 win over the Crusaders in the first meeting in a match that included numerous long rallies and a 38-36 score in the final set.
Sophomore Kristen Parks was all over the court in the win over the Crusaders, setting the program's single-match record with 44 digs. Jordan Walker led the team with 17 kills, while Karen Campbell had seven blocks.
The impressive numbers weren't limited to Bucknell. Holy Cross's Katie McKernan played well in a losing effort, tallying 40 assists, 16 kills and 16 digs.
With the win, Bucknell improved to 33-13 in the series with Holy Cross. The teams have split the season series in each of the past three years.
Bucknell dropped its first meeting with Army in four sets, falling to 13-31 in the series. The Bison cruised to a 25-14 win in the first set, but the Black Knights took the next three for the victory.
Army (10-12, 5-4 PL) is currently fifth in the Patriot League standings, while Holy Cross (5-14, 4-5 PL) is one spot behind that in sixth. Bucknell is 3-6 in the conference, which puts it seventh.
