BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bucknell volleyball team recorded its second straight sweep as it topped Patriot League foe Loyola (Md.) by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-14 on Saturday. The Bison have won back-to-back matches against conference opponents to improve to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in the league.
Erika Eastley and Karen Campbell paced the Bison in the win. Eastley had seven kills with a .467 hitting percentage, while adding five block assists. Campbell led the team with eight kills with a .389 hitting percentage and tallied four block assists. The pair rank first and second in the conference in blocks, while the Bison lead the category as a team.
Bucknell finished with a .258 hitting percentage and stymied Loyola's attack, holding the Greyhounds to a .061 mark. Jordan Walker finished with seven kills for the Bison. Kristen Gelenitis had four on just nine total attacks, and Hailey Stout added three. Meghan Wentzel did her part with 20 assists.
Two players reached double digits in digs for the Bison. Kristen Parks, who broke the program's single-match record with 44 digs earlier this season, had 14, and Stout finished with 11.
“We played a good match,” Bucknell head coach Anna Allison said. “I believe that leaving the night before after a week of midterms was key. It gave our women the rest and focus we needed to stay strong. “
The Bison have been dominant in their last two matches. They have allowed the opposing team to reach 20 points in just one of the six sets played.
Bucknell will play each of its next two games against Colgate. The Bison will host the Raiders for a 4 p.m. match on Monday, and will travel to Hamilton, New York to play them again on Saturday, Oct. 18. Monday's match will be streamed on Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network.
