Urbinati Wins Flight B Singles Crown at Bucknell Women's Tennis Quad

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Thanks to solid play over the first two days of the Bucknell Quad, the Bison women's tennis team was represented in the finals of every flight of the weekend-long event. The finals were contested on Sunday and freshman Michele Urbinati claimed Bucknell's only title, winning the Flight B singles crown.

Urbinati went 2-0 earlier in the weekend to earn her spot in Sunday's final. She faced Haleigh Morgus of Loyola (Md.) and won a tight match, 6-4, 6-7, (10-2).

Reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year Maria Cioffi played in the Flight A finals on Sunday, while Lydia Colvin (Flight C) and Melissa Parks (Flight D) also had championship appearances.

Senior Elena Vidrascu posted a singles win on Sunday as she won the consolation bracket of Flight A. She won by a tidy 6-0, 6-3 margin.

Cioffi and Vidrascu teamed up at Flight A doubles and reached the finals, but dropped an 8-2 decision in the championship match.

The Bison will return to action next weekend at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. The three-day event begins Friday, Sept. 13.
