Women's Tennis Claims Five Titles at Mount St. Mary's Invitational

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Bucknell women's tennis' Melissa Parks, Jorie Fox and Stephanie Pino claimed singles titles and the Bison doubles teams of Maria Cioffi/Elena Vidrascu and Pino/Lydia Colvin won crowns on the final day of competition Sunday at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. Bucknell capped a banner weekend by winning five of the seven total brackets contested.

Parks had a Flight C finals matchup with teammate Colvin and came away with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory in the all-Bucknell final.

Fox defeated Alexandra Billips from Loyola (Md.), 6-4, 6-2, in the Flight D final, while Pino claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Coppin State's Zolisca Sunkins in the Flight E final.

Cioffi gave Bucknell a finalist in four of the five flights as she was in the A final, but lost 1-6, 6-2, 11-9.

Cioffi did get a crown on Sunday, though, as she teamed with Vidrascu to win the Flight A doubles title by an 8-3 margin over Meghan Hahn and Olivia Ott from Loyola (Md.).

It was an all-Bison final in Flight B doubles with Pino and Colvin defeating Parks and Fox 8-2.

The Bison will return home next weekend for their second home tournament of the fall. They will host the three-day Bucknell Invitational beginning Friday on the Bucknell Tennis Courts, outside Gerhard Fieldhouse.
