UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Bucknell baseball team traveled about an hour west to take on Penn State Wednesday evening, but the game was called before it was a regulation contest due to a severe thunderstorm warning in the area. The two teams played three-and-one-half innings and the Nittany Lions were leading the Bison 7-1. All statistics from the contest, which had its start delayed 30 minutes due to a pregame storm, will not count.
Xavier Hammond got the start on the mound for Bucknell (9-22, 4-4 PL), while Corey Furman, Rob Krentzman and Anthony Gingerelli collected hits for the Bison.
Earlier in the day Bucknell and Penn State agreed to add a second meeting this year to their schedules. The Bison will head back to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park next Wednesday, April 17. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
Bucknell will next be in action this weekend when it travels to Lehigh for a four-game Patriot League series on Saturday and Sunday.
