LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman pitcher Max Kra (Bethesda, Md./Landon School) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday after earning the save in the Bison's first win of the season Sunday vs. Harvard. The right-hander did not allow a run while pitching the final two innings in relief of starter Dan Goldstein.
Kra came on in relief of Goldstein with Bucknell (1-9) leading the Crimson 7-4. He retired the side in order in the eighth inning and then got out of the ninth inning thanks to a 6-4-3 double play. Kra allowed just two hits and struck out one in his two innings of work as the Bison ended up with the three-run victory.
Kra has not allowed a run in 6.2 innings over three relief appearances this year. He has yielded just four hits and struck out four. His 0.00 ERA is tied for the team lead with classmate Austin Zimmerman and sophomore Tucker Rekucki.
The first Bucknell Patriot League Rookie of the Week since Bryson Hough last April, Kra is the first Bison to earn a weekly honor from the Patriot League this season.
Bucknell will begin its annual week-long Spring Break trip to Florida on Sunday against North Dakota State. First pitch is 3 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
