LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell baseball team will go a full week between games thanks to some winter weather postponing this past Tuesday's scheduled home opener vs. Saint Joseph's. The well-rested Bison will get back to action this weekend when they take on Delaware in a three-game series at two locations. The Blue Hens will host a doubleheader Saturday and then the teams will make the trek to Lewisburg and complete the weekend schedule with a single game Sunday at Depew Field.
Sunday's contest will be the home opener for Bucknell, which brings a 4-13 record into the weekend. The Bison won four of their final five home games a year ago and have won two straight home openers.
Delaware is 11-8 on the year and is 6-4 at home. The Blue Hens have won three of their last five games and posted a five-game winning streak in early March. They are hitting .327 as a team and have a 4.83 ERA.
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at noon at Bob Hannah Baseball Stadium. First pitch of Sunday's game is slated for 1 p.m. at Depew Field and a live audio broadcast will air on SportsJuice.com.
Bucknell is 21-45 all-time against Delaware. The two squads have not met since 1990 when they were both members of the East Coast Conference. The Blue Hens have won three in a row in the series.
Sunday's contest begins a three-game homestand for Bucknell, which will host Binghamton in a doubleheader Tuesday, March 26, at Depew Field. Start time is 2 p.m. A pair of seven-inning games will be played between the Bison and Bearcats.
Note: Bucknell's postponed game vs. Saint Joseph's from this past Tuesday (March 19) has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 3, at 3:30 p.m.
