LEWISBURG, Pa. - Tuesday's Bucknell-Yale baseball game, scheduled for 2 p.m. at Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Fla., has been cancelled due to rain. The teams will try to make the game up later this week, but no date has been established. The Bison will return to action Wednesday at 11 a.m. against LIU Brooklyn in Lakeland, Fla.
Bucknell Baseball Notebook:
Bucknell has won the first two games of its Florida trip by a combined score of 8-1 over North Dakota State (W, 3-0) and Fairfield (W, 5-1).
Bucknell starting pitchers Bryson Hough and Dan Goldstein have combined to allow just one run in 17.1 innings in Florida. The Bison team ERA is 0.50 over that span.
Hough on Sunday vs. North Dakota State became the first Bison pitcher to throw a nine-inning complete game shutout since Mathew Wilson in the 2008 NCAA Tournament vs. Florida State.
Bucknell has won three of its last four games and is 3-1 at neutral sites this season.
Travis Clark and Carter Bumgardner will each carry a six-game hitting streak into Wednesday's contest vs. LIU Brooklyn. Jon Mayer has hit in five straight games.
Freshman reliever Max Kra, who got the final two outs of Monday's Fairfield win, has not allowed a run in 7.1 innings this season.
Opponents are hitting .198 vs. Goldstein this season. He has allowed just 17 hits in 25.2 innings.
Junior left-hander Dan Weigel is expected to make the next start on the mound for the Bison.
Tuesday's rainout marked Bucknell's first postponement during a spring break trip to Florida since 2007.
