Volleyball's Jessica Serrato Named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball senior Jessica Serrato (Millbrae, Calif./Saint Ignatius College Prep) was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Wednesday, earning the honor for the second consecutive season.
Serrato, a Management major who is minoring in both Spanish and Religion, has maintained an impressive 3.83 cumulative GPA and is a five-time member of Bucknell's Dean's List. A three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, she was also selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team at the conclusion of the 2012 campaign.
The outside hitter has compiled an impressive list of honors and experiences over the course of her four-year career, both on and off the court. A member of the Student “Voices” Committee, she helped her team members earn a $30,000 NCAA grant with the proposal for “Raise Your Voices, Make Good Choices”, an organization that focuses on sponsoring and promoting events around campus that are viable substitutes to alcohol-related social activities. Serrato also belongs to Alpha Chi Omega, the Mortar Board, Delta Mu Delta and the Order of Omega. She has completed impressive internships in each of the past two summers, working with the Joshua M. Bentley Law Office in the summer of 2013 and the San Mateo Police Department in the summer of 2012.
On the court, Serrato turned in consistently impressive performances for the Bison this season, always coming through when her team needed her the most. She tallied over 100 kills for the third consecutive campaign and was also a formidable defensive threat, ranking fifth on the team in both kills (149) and blocks (91).
A Bison has earned Academic All-Patriot League honors in every year since the team's inception in 2010, with Rachel Rodriguez earning a selection to the 2010 team, Anne Ellenberger receiving the nod in 2011 and Serrato representing Bucknell on the 2012 and 2013 squads.
