LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell volleyball team will conclude its first season under head coach Anna Allison on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Baltimore, Md., to take on Loyola in a 4 p.m. match. The Bison, who are fresh off of a hard-fought 3-1 win over Lafayette last Saturday, will look to sweep the season series with the Greyhounds, having defeated them 3-1 in Davis Gym back in October. Live stats of the contest will be available online.
Bucknell enters the weekend with a 10-15 overall record and 3-12 mark in the newly expanded Patriot League, having earned a conference win in each of the past two weekends. All three of the team's league victories have come in Davis Gym, and the Bison will look to prove their mettle on the road on Saturday. The team has already surpassed its overall win total from last season, and a triumph over the Greyhounds would improve its total in Patriot League action as well.
Seniors Kristen Titley and Morgan Mientus lead the Bison offense with 185 and 175 kills, respectively, while freshman Jordan Walker leads a group of talented young attackers with 166 tallies. Titley had a career-night against the Leopards on Saturday, putting down 20 kills and hitting .378 to lead her squad to victory on Senior Night. Senior Rose Lewis has contributed 279 assists to the offense, while freshman Keane Brazda and sophomore Meghan Wentzel have also shared in the setting duties.
Bucknell's defense battles consistently in each and every outing, and the Bison currently rank second in the Patriot League with 2.23 blocks per set, led by the efforts of freshman Erika Eastley and sophomore Karen Campbell. Eastley has led the conference in blocks for the entire season and is averaging 1.26 per set, while Campbell, who also leads the Bison with a .318 hitting percentage, ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 0.94 blocks per set. Sophomore Katie Price also plays a key role in the Bison defense, collecting 4.08 digs per set.
The Bison earned their first Patriot League win of the season against Loyola in October, led by Walker's 10 kills and Campbell's .533 attack percentage. Since then, the Greyhounds have improved to 7-19 overall and 4-10 in the Patriot League with wins over Holy Cross (3-1) and Army (3-2) last weekend.
Jac Bullock's 279 kills lead the way for Loyola, while Faye Lukas has also surpassed the 200-kill mark with 239 tallies. Lauren Anderson runs the team's offense, contributing 704 kills, while Micah Duzey is strong from the serving line, registering .41 aces per set. Duzey also leads the Greyhound's defensive efforts with 244 digs, while Mindy Maloney has a team-high 80 blocks.
