Bucknell Men's Golf Places 4th at PL Championship, Scialabba Rookie of Year after Runner-Up Finish

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Freshman Pete Scialabba capped off an outstanding weekend with a runner-up finish at his first Patriot League Championship, but the Bucknell team fell back a bit on Sunday and settled for fourth place after a closing round of 306. Scialabba earned Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors after posting a 217 total over 54 holes.
Navy captured the league title and trip to the NCAA Regionals with an 878 total. Army finished just three shots back at 881, followed by Lehigh (891), Bucknell (892), Lafayette (896), Colgate (905) and Holy Cross (935).
Army's William Park captured the individual title. His eagle at the par-4 18th hole gave him a 1-under-par 69 in the final round and a 1-over 211 for the tournament. Scialabba, who had a one-shot lead entering Sunday's final round, closed with a 76 and finished in sole possession of second place at 217. Lafayette's Carter Rufe was third at 219.
Dan Bernard began the day in fifth place before falling back to T-16th after an 83. Bernard did make an eagle at the par-5 15th hole for the second time this weekend. J.J. Szmadzinski had the round of the day for the Bison, a 4-over 74 that moved him up into the top-20. Szmadzinski and Schuyler Stitzer both tied for 19th place at 228, one behind Bernard.
Jon Hartman and Will Bachman both closed with 79s.
