Joseph Shines in Hammer as Bucknell Men's Track & Field Wraps Up Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Bucknell men's track and field wrapped up the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field on Saturday with Leonard Joseph and Laddie Trees putting up strong showings in the throws. Joseph was fifth in the championship hammer throw and Trees placed 12th in the college javelin in the final round of competition before next week's Patriot League Championships.
Joseph earned the Bison men's best finish of the meet with a fifth-place showing in the championship division of the hammer on Saturday. The junior finished with a mark of 199 feet, 2 inches. Joseph will attempt to defend his hammer throw title at the Patriot League Championships in a week's time.
Competing in his first Penn Relays for the Bison, Trees took 12th place in the college division of the javelin where each of the top seven finishers posted marks of better than 200 feet. Trees closed out his day with a throw of 192-7.
Bucknell will be vying for its third consecutive Patriot League Outdoor Championship title May 4-5. The Bison are also looking to sweep the conference indoor and outdoor championships for the first time in program history since the league's inception in 1991.
