Bucknell Women's Tennis Handed 6-1 Loss to NJIT, 5-2 Loss to Quinnipiac

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Bucknell women's tennis team came up short in its first match of the day against NJIT Thursday afternoon at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla. The Bison were defeated by NJIT, 6-1. In the second match of the day, the Bison lost the Quinnipiac by the score of 5-2. Bucknell is now 1-3 on its Spring Break trip and 2-7 overall.
The Bison were outdone in the doubles matches as the Highlanders took all three victories and the team doubles point. Daria Tuzhikova and Dumitrita Lepuras battled Nina Mayavska and Jana Luste in a back-and-forth match that ultimately went in favor of the NJIT players, 8-5.
Elena Vidrascu won her No. 2 singles match on the afternoon over her opponent Nina Mayevska. Vidrascu lost the first-set 6-0, but then mounted a comeback and won the match 0-6, 7-6, (10-4).
Iepuras faced off against Ksenia Kuzmenko in the No. 1 singles match but fell short in her efforts, losing by the score of 6-2, 6-1.
The Bucknell women faced Quinnipiac in its second event of the day, losing by the score of 5-2. The Bobcats' claimed all three doubles victories over the Bison and Tuzhikova and Jen Bush each won their singles matches during the evening play. Complete results were unavailable.
The Bison will look to recover from today's losses on Friday, when they take on Rhode Island (1-6) at noon in the Lake Cane Tennis Center and Chicago State (2-11) at 5:30 p.m. in Sanlando Park.
