LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell will continue to demonstrate its commitment to women's athletics as it hosts a free skills clinic as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Jan. 28. The inaugural clinic is intended to introduce students in sixth through eighth grade to a number of sports and will be conducted by Bucknell student-athletes. The Bison will also hold their monthly Women's Sports Luncheon on Feb. 1.
Bucknell will host its first skills clinic featuring instruction from the University's field hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball and volleyball teams. The event is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. at Davis Gym. In addition to the opportunity to work with Bison student-athletes, those in attendance will receive a free t-shirt, one free student ticket and one free adult ticket as well as a concession stand voucher for the Bucknell women's basketball game vs. Navy that evening.
Registration for the clinic can be done ahead of the event by emailing NGWSD@bucknell.edu. Students can also register at Davis Gym on Jan. 28 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The Bison women's basketball squad will host the Midshipmen at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Clinic participants will have the opportunity to be the "Star of the Game" on the court prior to the contest.
Bucknell's recognition of women's athletics and its student-athletes will continue on Feb. 1 with the Women's Sports Luncheon. Held every month on campus, Bison coaches and athletes recap recent competition and provide insight into the inner workings of their programs. The event, which is open to the public, is slated for 11:45 a.m. in the Center Room of the Elaine Langone Center.
