LEWISBURG, Pa. - After returning to the Patriot League Tournament last season, Bucknell volleyball was selected fourth in the league's preseason poll, the Patriot League announced on Tuesday. The Bison, which also ended last year fourth in the league standings, earned 57 points in the 2011 vote.
Leading the way in the preseason poll was defending champion American with 98 points and 14 first-place votes. Rounding out the poll was Lehigh (56 points) and Navy (34) in fifth and sixth, respectively, followed by Holy Cross (28) and Lafayette (19).
Bucknell finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 10-17 and a Patriot League mark of 8-6. The Orange and Blue qualified for the Patriot League Tournament before falling in straight sets to the No. 1 seed and eventual champion American.
The Patriot League Preseason Poll is determined by a vote of head coaches and sports information directors who cannot vote for their own team.
