Doubles Propels Bucknell Men's Tennis Past Lafayette 4-3

EASTON, Pa. – Bucknell men's tennis closed out is road schedule on a high note, defeating Lafayette 4-3 in Easton, Pa., on Sunday afternoon. The Bison swept doubles play and split the six singles matches to bring their record to 6-11 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League.
Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) and Kelly Morque (Rye, N.Y./Rye) won at No. 1 doubles, defeating Doug Gallagher and Kyle MacLelland 8-6. Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) and Ryan Marcil (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edward's) claimed the victory at No. 2, winning by a score of 8-4 over Steven Benezra and Justin Haar. Josh Katten (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) and Evan Zimmer (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) earned their fifth win in six matches together, taking the 8-3 decision over James Murphy and Andrew Morris.
Cohenca and Zimmer claimed their second win of the day in singles. Cohenca was the top player at the No. 2 position, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win over Benezra. He is now undefeated in his last four attempts. Zimmer's win was the fifth in a row for the freshman and came with a tidy 6-0, 6-2 score over Murphy at No. 5.
Gregory Maxson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Hotchkiss) returned to his successful ways, winning his sixth match in seven tries at No. 6 singles. The sophomore defeated MacLelland 7-5, 6-4.
With the win, the Bison even their Patriot League record at 2-2, placing them fourth in the league standings. Bucknell will host Robert Morris in a non-conference tilt at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 before welcoming Lehigh in its final regular-season league match on Wednesday.
