LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman midfielder Paige Cobbs (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) was named the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Monday. In her only action last week, Cobbs scored a career-high four goals in a 15-13 loss to American at Graham Field.
Cobbs came off the bench and scored four goals on just six shots against the Eagles. She tallied late in the first half to tie the game at 5-apiece. After the Bison fell behind 8-5 early in the second half, Cobbs scored two goals just 34 seconds apart to help get the game tied at 8.
She added one more later in the game, tying her with teammate Julia Braun and American's Amanda Makoid for game-high scoring honors.
Cobbs doubled her season scoring total coming into the game, and she now has eight goals on the season. One of those was a buzzer-beater that gave Bucknell an 8-7 win over Davidson on Feb. 21.
She is the second Bucknell newcomer to earn rookie of the week honors, joining Ryan Wenk, who earned the honor two weeks ago.
Next up for the Bison is a trip to Alfred (N.Y.) University to face St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
