LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, Bucknell volleyball's Heidi Kamp (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) earned All-Patriot League honors. Kamp led the Bison back to the Patriot League Tournament with a team-best 218 kills and 79 total blocks in 2010, placing her on the first team, it was announced on Tuesday.
For the first time in her career, Kamp has led Bucknell in kills and kills per set (2.32) in 2010. Her 79 total blocks, which includes 13 solos and 66 block assists, is good for second on the team, making her one of Bucknell's strongest all-around players. The co-captain's totals have come while starting all 26 matches this season and leading the Bison to a record of 10-16 overall and 8-6 in the Patriot League.
Earlier in the season, Kamp was recognized for her standout play by being named to the all-tournament teams at the USC Trojan Invitational and the Bucknell Invitational. She has since gone on to earn her fourth season with better than 200 kills.
In her final season with the Orange and Blue, Kamp moved into the top five in program annals in both total blocks and block assists. With at least one match remaining in the season, the middle blocker has 274 block assists, which ranks third all-time at Bucknell. She also has 320 total rejections, ranking fourth. As a sophomore, Kamp set the single-match record in hitting percentage, posting a .711 mark against Lehigh. As a junior, she was named Second Team All-Patriot League with 213 kills and a career-best 83 blocks.
Kamp is Bucknell's first selection to the First Team All-Patriot League since Jenna Henderson in 2007. The current Bison senior is also the first to receive all-league recognition in back-to-back seasons since Henderson in 2006 and 2007.
Bucknell's season will continue at the Patriot League Tournament this weekend. The No. 4 Bison will open against the host, No. 1 American, in Washington, D.C., at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. The championship match is set for 4 p.m. on Sunday. Live streaming video for Bucknell's matches can be found on Bison Vision at BucknellBison.com, while other contests will be aired on Patriot League All-Access at patriotleague.org.
