Bison Women's Tennis' Iepuras Shines on Day One of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisinau, Moldova/Germantown Friends School) collected two victories on the first day of the Bucknell Invitational Friday, including a second-round doubles win to send her and Elizabeth Morgan (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield School) to the quarterfinals. The junior was also one of two Bison to record straight-set decisions in singles to move into the second round.
After enjoying a first-round bye, Iepuras and Morgan defeated Colgate's Jennifer Marquit and Elizabeth Cohen 8-3 in Flight B. The duo was the lone Bison pairing to avoid the consolation bracket at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
Iepuras also made quick work of Fairleigh Dickinson's Manuela Leme. Iepuras won 6-4, 6-1 in Flight A. Joining her in the wins column was Daria Tuzhikova (Minsk, Belarus/Gymnasium No. 7), who was the 6-1, 6-1 victor over Marquit in Flight B singles.
The Bison, including Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) and Elena Vidrascu (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) who received first-round byes in singles, will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Bucknell Invitational. Play continues through Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
