LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell Department of Athletics and Recreation is recognizing National Student-Athlete Day on Monday, Apr. 6. Bucknell is proud of the commitment to excellence displayed by each of the more than 800 student-athletes who help make Bison Athletics a national model for success both academically and athletically.
National Student-Athlete Day recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes nationwide who excel in the classroom, on the playing fields and in their communities. National Student-Athlete Day was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and the Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society, with partnership from the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations. NCAA involvement began in 1994.
Bison student-athletes annually rank among the national leaders in graduation rates and Academic Performance Rate (APR), and Bucknell ranks fifth among all Division I institutions in total number of ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans (117), recognizing academic and athletic excellence along with community involvement. On the playing fields, Bucknell has captured the Patriot League's all-sports trophy, the Presidents' Cup, in 14 of 18 years.
