CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) shot a 1-over-par 73 and the Bucknell men's golf team posted a solid 297 and moved up to a seventh-place finish at the Lafayette Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at Center Valley Country Club.
The Bison entered the final round tied for 10th after an opening-round 325, but on Sunday all five players shot 76 or better in much nicer weather conditions and they chopped 28 strokes off that total to move up three spots.
Cohen's 73 followed an opening round 78, and he finished a team-best 15th individually.
Also for Bucknell, Brian Poe (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) shot a 2-over 74, Brian Bartow (Rye, N.Y./Rye Neck) and Ben Mattingly (Fishers, Ind./Park Tudor) both carded 75s, and Will Bachman (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) finished with a 76.
Bachman, who shot 78 in the opening round, just missed a top-20 finish (T-21st).
Lehigh won the team title behind a stellar 7-under 65 from Steve Suarez. The Mountain Hawks shot a 7-under 281 as a team to post a 15-shot win over runner-up Villanova. Bucknell's 297 was the fourth-best score in the field.
Justin Martinson of Delaware finished 1-over and won the individual title in a playoff over Brandan Kelly of Villanova.
Bucknell will be back in action on Apr. 18-19, with one team headed to the Navy Invitational and another group going to the Caves Valley Spring Invitational.
