LEWISBURG, Pa. – This past weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic track meet, Bucknell junior Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dummer Academy) qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships with his second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where he was timed in 9 minutes, 2.4 seconds. Huebner's performance earned him Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week honors.
Placing second behind Adidas' Luke Watson, who reset the stadium record in 8:51.1, Huebner's mark was an almost 30-second improvement over his time at least week's William and Mary Colonial Relays (9:32.11). His mark also moved him into eighth place on Bucknell's all-time performance list.
Before Huebner's two weekends of consecutive steeplechases, he opened up the outdoor season at the Maryland Invitational with a second-place finish in the 1,500, timed in 4:01.58.
