LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Andrew Cohen shot a 70, the second-best score in the field on Sunday, helping the Bucknell men's golf team to a much-improved 292 score as the Bison finished third overall at the two-day Hawk Invitational, hosted by Monmouth at Eagle Ridge GC. Four of the five Bucknell golfers improved their scores on Sunday after the team shot 310 during Saturday's first round.
Cohen, who registered a 69 and a 70 during the fall season, equaled Will Bachman for the team's largest improvement from Saturday as each shot seven strokes better than his first-round total. Cohen's 70 was behind only Sacred Heart's Pat Fillian in Sunday's second round individual standings. Overall, Cohen carded a 147 over the weekend, placing him in a tie for fourth with Lafayette's Erik Adolfsson. Fillian won the individual title, shooting 139, six strokes better than second-place Robert Cerabone of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Brian Bartow, who led the Bison with a 76 on Saturday, shot 73 on Sunday to tie for seventh in the individual standings with five others, including Bachman. Bachman shot 71 on Sunday.
Andrew Wallisch (79-78-157) and Ryan Schneiter (79-87-166) rounded out the list of Bison competitors in the field.
Behind Fillian's performance, Sacred Heart took the team title with a two-day score of 590, including 288 Sunday. Lafayette was second (301-290-591), while Fairleigh Dickinson and host Monmouth rounded out the top five finishers in the 12-team field.
The Bison will next be in action at the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley Golf Course next Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5).
