Bucknell Men Second At Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Bucknell's men's indoor track and field team matched last year's runner-up performance with a second-place finish behind Army at the Patriot League Championships, which wrapped up Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy. Bucknell finished with 129 points behind Army's 188. Sophomore Drew Fitzgerald won the Male Field Performer of the Meet Honor.
Fitzgerald (Ballston Spa, Pa./Ballston Spa) finished in the second place in the pole vault, with a height of 14-11, a day after he won the high jump title.
With three individual champions, the Bison picked up big points behind juniors Timothy Medlock (Evan Mills, N.Y./Indian River), Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) and Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown). Medlock won the shot put with a toss of 53 feet, 6 ¼ inches. Anthony won the triple jump with a leap of 49-1 ½ and Yehl cruised to a victory in the 60-meter hurdles timing 8.18 seconds. Medlock and Yehl are the school record holders in their events, and Anthony sits in second place all-time in the triple jump.
Senior Kerry Boyle (Conyngham, Pa./Hazleton) scored on two occasions for the Bison with a second-place finish in the 400 with a season- best time of 48.93 and also with a third place result in the 200, timing 22.28.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Marlon Woods (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods), the third-place holder in Bucknell's all-time performance list, placed third overall with a time of 7.05. Clayton Smith (Sparta N.J./Pope John XXIII) took third in the 800, running 1:55.83, a day after his 4x800 relay team placed sixth overall.
Coach Donner had proud words for the Bison.
"We had a number of great performances and finishing second to Army and beating the defending champions, in Navy, made it an indoor season that everyone should be proud of."
The Bison will be back in action at the IC4A Championships on Saturday, March 7 in Boston.
