Last Outing
Bucknell posted a tight 19-17 victory over American this past Sunday. The Bison led 19-9 with two matches to go. The Eagles managed a pair of major decisions to close the gap to the final margin. It was Bucknell's closest victory since it defeated Columbia 17-16 in February of 2007. The Bison have had six matches decided by two points or less since the beginning of the 2006-07 campaign.
Honors for LeValley
Against American, sophomore Kevin LeValley posted a 4-1 decision over the Eagles' Kyle Borshoff, who was ranked No. 12 nationally at 149 pounds. For his efforts, LeValley was named both the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week and the EIWA Wrestler of the Week. He became the second Bison grappler to sweep those honors this year. The win was LeValley's first career victory against a ranked opponent in 10 tries. The Hugo, Colo., native is tied for third on the team with a career-high 24 wins this year and is 13-5 in duals, placing him in a tie for second on the squad in that category.
Double-Figure Wins
Bucknell enters Friday's match at East Stroudsburg with a 10 victories. It is the eighth time in program history the Bison have reached double figures in wins. Bucknell has guaranteed itself at least a .500 overall record and is also guaranteed to finish at least .500 in conference action.
Success vs. Unranked Opponents
Bucknell is 0-7 against ranked opponents this year, but is a sparkling 10-2 against unranked foes. The Bison recently defeated American, which was one position out of the top 25 last week.
Success vs. EIWA
Andy Rendos and Derek Reber will be putting their perfect records against EIWA competition on the line Friday at East Stroudsburg. Both Bison are 7-0 in EIWA duals, while Rendos owns a career 20-2 record in EIWA duals.
Freshman Success
Freshman Derek Reber, a Lewisburg native, has made an immediate impact on the Bison this year. The 125-pounder leads the team in victories (27) and dual victories (15). He is just two wins shy of joining the program's top-10 list for single-season wins, while he is already tied for ninth on the duals wins list. If he posts a win Friday he will move into a tie for third on that list.
Common Opponents
Bucknell and East Stroudsburg have four common opponents this season. Both squads have faced Army, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall and Navy. The Bison are 2-2 against those opponents, while the Warriors own a 1-3-1 against them, having lost to Drexel twice.
Starting Lineups
Bucknell has utilized 15 different starting lineups in its 19 dual matches this season. Three weeks ago against No. 1 Iowa and Columbia Bucknell used the same starting lineup in back-to-back matches for the first time since late November.
Top 10
Both David Marble and Andy Rendos now appear among the top 10 in Bucknell history in victories. Rendos stands eighth in program history with 79 wins, while Marble is ninth with 74. Additionally, Rendos, who is 21-1 against unranked opponents this year, ranks sixth in program annals with a .782 career winning percentage.
Up Next
Bucknell will be idle for two weeks until it competes at the EIWA Championships. This year's event runs March 7-8 and is hosted by Penn. The Bison finished ninth as a team in 2007 and eighth last year.
