LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell volleyball will continue its short stretch of road games, making the trip to Colgate for a Friday night matchup with Raiders at 7 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y. The Bison (6-10, 2-2) are aiming for a second consecutive league win after sweeping Navy last weekend. Live stats will be available at GoColgateRaiders.com.
ABOUT THE BISON
- Bucknell volleyball has split each of their Patriot League weekends so far this fall. The Bison fell 3-0 on the road to American before earning the 3-0 win over Navy last weekend. In their previous stretch, they lost 3-1 in their league opener to Army, but bounced back the next night to sweep Holy Cross.
- Three Bison have surpassed the century mark in kills this season and a fourth is on the brink. Kaitlin Segal (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) leads the way with 150 kills, followed by Heidi Kamp (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) with 110 and Ragin Jackson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) at 104. Kyleigh McAhren (Napa, Calif./Justin-Siena) enters the weekend with 98 kills.
- Jackson continues to lead the Patriot League in blocks. At the conclusion of last weekend, the freshman had amassed 53 blocks in 53 sets. Kamp is close behind, ranking fourth.
- With six block assists against American and Navy last weekend, Kamp is 15 shy of taking sole possession of fifth place all-time at Bucknell. Now a junior, Kamp has 178 block assists in her career. Heather Rendle (1993-96) currently holds the fifth spot. Melissa Wharton (1994-97), who will be inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 24, ranks number one with 317 career block assists.
- Bucknell has cracked into the NCAA top 50 in aces per set. As of Sept. 28, the Bison ranked 43rd nationally with 1.67/set. Emily Sawanobori (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) has contributed greatly to the cause and ranks 45th individually with 0.45/set.
ABOUT THE RAIDERS
- Colgate leads in the all-time series with Bucknell, 24-21. The two teams slit their meetings last season with the home team winning on each occasion, 3-0. When the Raiders came to Davis Gym, the Bison were helped by 13 kills apiece from Kamp and Segal. Segal also tied with McAhren for the team high in blocks with four. When the Bison headed to Colgate, Kamp again hit double digits with 10 kills. The team struggled with its attack, however, and hit just .073 compared to .278 for the Raiders.
- Like the Bison, the Raiders are 6-10 overall this year. They have also posted a 3-1 Patriot League record by earning wins over American (3-1) and Navy (3-1) on the road and Holy Cross (3-2) at home. Their lone league loss came at the hands of Army during the first weekend of action. Most recently, Colgate fell to Syracuse 3-0 on Tuesday.
- Colgate has five players with at least 100 kills this season. Leading the way is Kaliegh Durkett with 194 (3.13/set). The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week also leads the team in service aces with 21. Meghan Fanta continues to lead her team for another year in assists with 391 (6.31/set), while Devon Applegate is tops in digs with 243 (3.92/set).
