LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball has plenty on tap for the upcoming homestand, hosting Think Pink Night when it takes on Lafayette on Friday and Empowering Everyone's Kids (EEK) Night for the bout with Lehigh on Saturday in Davis Gym. Friday's match will also be broadcast live on Bison Vision and live stats on GameTracker will be available at BucknellBison.com for both contests.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bison will host their annual Think Pink event during the 7 p.m. match against Lafayette to help promote and raise funds for education about the disease. Bucknell volleyball will be collecting donations leading up to the match and, hoping to make an immediate impact on the Lewisburg area, the team will then donate those contributions to Evangelical Community Hospital's Women's Resource Center.
Bucknell is pleased to team up with Evangelical Community Hospital this year in helping to spotlight women's health. In an effort to promote women's health, and specifically breast cancer awareness, the Women's Resource Center will sponsor pink t-shirts to be tossed into the stands during the match.
The Women's Resource Center will partner with Bucknell again this winter by providing pink t-shirts for the Bison women's basketball's breast cancer awareness campaign. The basketball squad will host its own Think Pink Night on Feb. 10 when it welcomes American to Sojka Pavilion.
Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink to Friday's contest.
The game-day excitement continues at 5 p.m. on Saturday against Lehigh when the Bison host their second annual EEK Night, an event aimed at developing a stronger relationship between Bucknell volleyball and the Lewisburg community. EEK strives to increase mentoring and instructional opportunities for student-athletes and local children. The event allows members of the volleyball team to serve as role models and to teach their young fans about the positive energy surrounding athletics and the game of volleyball.
Bucknell is 6-11 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League this season. After an eventful weekend at home, the Bison will return to the road to face Holy Cross (Oct. 23) and Army (Oct. 24).
