I remember during my freshman orientation at Bucknell there was a speech given. The girl giving the speech was saying something about how we should all be careful how close we are to our mothers when we call Bucknell home for the first time, and I remember thinking that wouldn't happen to me...I was wrong. In fact, I think both my mom and I have gotten used to the fact that I have two homes, one in Tacoma, Wash. and one in Lewisburg. They're different, but I love them both more than I can say.
If Bucknell is my home, then it is only right to say that the Bucknell Softball team is my family. We are a hard-working, dedicated and enthusiastic unit. I have played softball for most of my life, and I have never been on a team I loved so much. We're all in it together in everything from early morning lifts in September to the Patriot League tournament in May. I know every day that the people standing next to me in that team Christmas photo are there for the same reasons I am. We love softball and we love each other. The first is why we're here, the second is why we'll never quit, and they are both part of what makes Bucknell Softball so great. I know that my teammates are behind me on and off the field. We all want to win, and we're all going to do whatever it takes to get there. We play, as a team, with integrity and perseverance, and each person, no matter their role, is part of that. We're truly a family, and I consider myself very lucky to be a part of that family.
I cannot wait to see what else is in store for this BUSB family. I think it is safe to say that we're ready to make our mark.
