LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three days after releasing a list of 12 coxswain and openweight recruits, Bucknell head women's rowing coach Stephen Kish on Monday announced 13 lightweight recruits who will complete the Bison Class of 2012. The largest recruiting class in program history features lightweight rowers from eight states and England. Three of the lightweights hail from Pennsylvania.
Hilary Dabney, Joanna Freeman, Katharine Leonard, Cassie Mastrostefano, Elizabeth Munson, Katlynn Pentecoste, Nicole Pilling, Emily Ralen, Hanna Rozowski-Vogt, Molly Schneider, Sari Schwartz, Hilary Strong and Caitlin Vogelsang are the 13 lightweight recruits. Once again Kish expects his incoming recruits to have an immediate impact on the overall team, as well as the lightweight group, which recently finished fourth at the IRA National Championship Regatta. It was the third straight trip to the Grand Final for the varsity lightweight eight, which won the first national title in school history in 2007 at the IRA Regatta.
"The lightweight program has been steadily developing with four appearances at the IRA in the last five years," said Kish, a 1992 graduate of Bucknell. "With our largest and most talented group of incoming lightweights ever, we look forward to furthering our lightweight rowing tradition. This class will help to make that group larger, stronger and deeper."
Bucknell's 25 total recruits will join 48 returning rowers to form the 2008-09 Bison women's rowing squad. Gillian Carter, Caitlin Doolin, Whittney Henry, Page Kannor, Beth Mooney and Jeweliet Yost will form the six-person senior class.
