Bucknell Wrestling Heads to No. 15 Cornell for Dual Meet Season Finale

LEWISBURG, Pa. - he Bucknell wrestling squad will wrap up its 2007-08 dual meet schedule this Saturday at No. 15 Cornell as the Bison will face the Big Red at 3 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y. After a 2-0 weekend against East Stroudsburg and American, the Orange and Blue enters its final meet of the season with a record of 9-10-1 and 4-3 in the EIWA.

A Look at Bucknell's Probable Starters
- 125: Sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) is 14-9 overall with a 6-5 mark in duals and is 3-1 against EIWA opponents after going 2-0 last weekend, including a 12-4 major decision over East Stroudsburg's Matthew Benedetti. He is expected to face Mike Rodriguez or Frank Perrelli.
- 133: Sophomore co-captain David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Area) is currently ranked No. 18 according to InterMat with a team-best record of 23-5. He is 16-4 in duals (4-1 EIWA) and has seven dual meet wins for bonus points. His probable opponent is No. 2 Mike Grey. Earlier this season, Marble dropped a 17-7 major decision to Grey in the 133-pound championship match at the Binghamton Open.
- 141: Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) enters the weekend with a record of 18-11 and is 11-6 in duals (5-1 EIWA). Last Friday, Chohany recorded a thrilling 6-4 overtime win over Sean Carr of East Stroudsburg before dropping his first EIWA dual match of the season to Kyle Borshoff of American on Sunday. Chohany will either take on Nick Bridge or Adam Frey.
- 149: Freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) posted technical falls in both matches last weekend and picked up his 20th win of the season. He is now 20-11 overall and 12-8 in duals (4-3 EIWA) with six dual meet wins for bonus points. LeValley is scheduled to face either D.J. Meagher or Brian Alves. Meagher edged LeValley, 4-3 at the Binghamton Open the first weekend of the season.
- 157: Sophomore Brantley Hooks (Spartanburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) went 1-1 against East Stroudsburg and American, posting a 6-4 win over ESU's Kyle Heselpoth. Hooks enters Saturday's match with a record of 11-10 and is 7-7 in duals (1-4 EIWA). He will face either No. 8 Jordan Leen or Matt Easter.
- 165: Sophomore co-captain Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) is currently No. 19 in the country according to InterMat's individual rankings and holds a record of 23-7. Rendos is 15-5 in duals, 6-1 in the EIWA, and picked up his 10th major decision of the season against East Stroudsburg's Joe Schick last Friday. The win marked the 50th of his career as he is now 50-13 as a member of the Orange and Blue. Last Sunday, Rendos suffered his first EIWA loss of the season, falling to No. 6 Mike Cannon of American, 11-6. Rendos has a team-high 10 dual meet wins for bonus points on the year and will likely take on either No. 4 Mack Lewnes, Mike Mackie or Drake Hovis. Lewnes defeated Rendos, 11-6, at the Binghamton Open on Nov. 10.
- 174: Sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) stretched his dual meet winning streak to 14 straight matches with two wins last weekend. Riccio, who has not dropped a duals match since his Nov. 24 loss to then-ranked No. 4 Steve Luke of Michigan, posted a 6-0 win over Shane Mallory last Friday and went on to clinch Sunday's meet by pinning Jonathon Powell in 1:47. Riccio is currently 22-6 overall after overcoming a 3-4 start to the season. In duals, he is 15-1, including a 6-0 mark against EIWA foes. Riccio has not surrendered a takedown to an opponent in his last 11 bouts, a streak that dates back to a 4-2 victory over Missouri's James Williamson on Jan. 4, and has not given up a single point in his last four matches. He will face either No. 10 Steve Anceravage or Colin McDonald.
- 184: Freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) went 2-0 last weekend and is now 16-10 overall, 9-8 in duals and 4-2 in EIWA duals. He won 9-2 over Tom Pagano of East Stroudsburg and posted an 11-2 major decision over Brooks Keefer of American. Thompson is slated to face either Josh Arnone or Michael Moore.
- 197: Freshman Jay Hahn (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) is 4-10 on the season and 0-2 in duals. He will match up against either Justin Kerber or Nate Holley.
- 285: Sophomore co-captain George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) will be looking to snap a five match losing streak to improve upon his record of 16-13. In duals, he is 8-10 (3-3 EIWA) and is slated to face Maciej Jochym.
Scouting Cornell
- Cornell will wrestle Brown and Harvard before facing the Bison on Saturday and enters the weekend with a record of 6-5. The Big Red is currently ranked No. 15 in the USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll and will be Bucknell's fifth nationally ranked opponent of the season. Cornell's lineup features four wrestlers who are ranked in the top-10--No. 2 Mike Grey at 133, No. 8 Jordan Leen at 157, No. 4 Mack Lewnes at 165 and No. 10 Steve Anceravage at 174. In its last match, the Big Red shut out Princeton, 48-0.
Recapping Last Weekend
- Clinging to a 10-9 lead after the first five bouts, Bucknell rattled off five straight wins to roll to a 28-9 victory over East Stroudsburg last Friday evening in Davis Gym. To begin the night, Rendos recorded his 50th career win, posting a 15-2 major decision over Joe Schick. With his technical fall at 149 pounds, LeValley clinched the win for the Bison by downing Jesse Dunn, 22-6. On Sunday, with the help of a pin by Riccio at 174, Bucknell collected a 30-14 victory over American in its 2007-08 home finale.
