Bucknell Track & Field's Timothy Medlock Named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior Timothy Medlock (Evan Mills, N.Y./Indian River) was named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week, on Monday, Dec. 8. A member of the track & field team, Medlock broke his own school record in the indoor shot put at the Bison Opener on Saturday, Dec. 6, recording a throw of 54 feet, 1/2 inches to win the event. Medlock's previous best was 53-9, earning his second place at last year's Patriot League Championships.
Medlock's throw also qualifies him for the IC4A Championships. A toss of 51-2 1/4 was needed to reach that mark. Prior to his record-setting throw last year, the Bucknell record for the shot put was 52-8 1/4, set in 1995 by Erik Stieler. Medlock also currently places second in school history in the outdoor shot put, with a throw of 52-4 1/2.
Medlock, a major in computer science and engineering, this is the second straight year that Medlock has been an IC4A qualifier in the indoor shot put. He qualified for the outdoor shot put last season, as well. During the indoor season Medlock has also competed in the weight throw, finishing fourth at last year's league championships (52-8 3/4).
The Bucknell men's track & field team will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Gulden Relays, the first of three home meets for the Bison during the month of January.
