Bucknell Wrestling Heads West to Compete in Las Vegas this Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell will be one of 48 wrestling teams competing at the Cliff Keen Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Bison will have seven athletes entered in the competitive event that features no fewer than 11 nationally ranked teams and nearly 100 ranked wrestlers.
Bucknell will have a pair of ranked wrestlers in the field as No. 16 David Marble will represent the Bison at 133 pounds and No. 14 Andy Rendos will be competing at 165. Additionally, Derek Reber (125), Kevin LeValley (149), Shane Riccio (174), David Thompson (184) and Jay Hahn (197) are expected to compete.
Competition begins at 12 p.m. Friday, while the quarterfinals and first two consolation rounds will be contested at 10 p.m. that night. Saturday's action begins at noon as well with the championship finals slated for 8 p.m.
This will be the second of two tournaments the Bison will wrestle at in 2008-09. Bucknell, which is 2-4 overall and 1-1 against EIWA foes, also wrestled at the Navy Classic two weeks ago. The Bison finished third of 12 teams at that event and had nine placewinners, including first-place showings by Marble and Rendos.
Following the Cliff Keen Invitational, Bucknell will be idle until Dec. 19 when it hosts Cleveland State, Drexel and Wagner in a tri-meet inside Davis Gym. That competition is expected to begin at 12 p.m.
