Bucknell Wrestling Heads to Liberty and #22 Old Dominion This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Coming off a 21-12 win over Brown at home last Friday, the Bucknell wrestling team will be back on the road this weekend, heading down to Virginia to face Liberty, Davidson and The Citadel on Saturday, Jan. 26, beginning at 10 a.m., and No. 22 Old Dominion on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. The Bison are currently 5-7-1 in duals on the season, 2-2 in the EIWA.

A Look at Bucknell's Probable Starters
- 125: Sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) is 11-6 overall and 3-2 in duals after posting an 8-4 win over Nathan Myers of Brown on Jan. 18.
- 133: Sophomore co-captain David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Area), ranked No. 15 in the latest InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Division I Individual Rankings, holds a record of 17-4 overall. He is tied with a team-best record of 10-3 in duals and has won eight of his last nine matches. Against the Bears, Marble defeated Jeff Schell, 10-4, to improve to 3-1 against EIWA opponents.
- 141: Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) is 14-8 overall with a duals record of 7-3. He logged a 10-6 win over Brown's Mark Savino last time out and is now undefeated against conference foes (3-0).
- 149: Freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) holds a record of 16-8 with an 8-5 mark in duals. LeValley is tied for the team lead in major decisions with eight. He lost his last bout, 11-8, to Mark Bloom of Brown.
- 157: Sophomore Brantley Hooks (Spartanburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) is 7-7 overall, 3-4 in duals. Last weekend he dropped a 5-0 decision to Brown's Tom Fazio.
- 165: Sophomore co-captain Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) is ranked No. 19 in the nation at this weight and leads the Bison with 18 wins. He is 10-3 in duals, including a 4-0 record against EIWA opponents. By pinning Brown's Kasey McCurdy, Rendos posted his sixth duals bonus point win. Overall, he has three pins, one technical fall and eight major decisions.
- 174: Sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) holds an overall record of 15-6 and has won 11 of his last 12 bouts. He improved to 8-1 in duals (3-0 EIWA) with his 2-0 win over Chris Musser of Brown.
- 184: Freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) is 13-7 and 6-5 in duals with four wins coming for bonus points. In total, Thompson has posted two pins, one technical fall and three major decisions.
- 197: Freshman Charlie Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa./North Allegheny) is 9-12 on the year (3-6 duals) and is 5-8 since moving up to this weight from 184. He recorded his first bonus-point victory as a 197-pounder on Jan. 6 against Wagner, pinning Anthony Interiano in 2:28.
- 285: Sophomore co-captain George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) holds an overall record of 16-8 (8-5 duals), with four pins. He sealed the Bison's win over Brown with a 2-1 victory over Zach Zdrada.
About the Opponents
- The Citadel is 3-4 in duals and lost to common opponent George Mason, 20-18, who the Bison defeated, 23-20, back on Dec. 1.
- Davidson enters the weekend with a record of 1-5 and will wrestle at VMI on Friday. The Wildcats were at the Navy Classic along with Bucknell on Nov. 17. Davidson took seventh, while the Bison were third.
- Liberty holds a record of 3-8-1 and placed fifth at the Navy Classic. The Flames stole a 25-24 victory from Bucknell in 2007 when the teams last met in Lewisburg. Marble, Rendos and Riccio posted wins for the Orange and Blue in that contest.
- Old Dominion is 12-3 on the season and is ranked No. 22 in this week's USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll, marking the fourth time in 2007-08 the Bison have faced a ranked team. The Monarchs have three nationally ranked wrestlers--No. 12 James Nicholson at 125, No. 17 Ryan Williams at 141 and No. 20 Chris Brown at 165.
Last Time the Bison Took the Mat
- The Bison improved to 4-0 at home this season with a 21-12 victory over Brown on Jan. 18 in Davis Gym. Hart, Marble, Chohany, Rendos, Riccio and Hingson posted wins for the Orange and Blue. Rendos' pin was the lone bonus point win of the meet for either team.
