Bucknell Volleyball's Shannon Pitsch Earns Academic All-District Recognition

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior setter Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) was named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II University Division Volleyball Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
Pitsch's all-district selection marks the 17th all-time for the Bucknell volleyball program and the seventh straight year the Bison have been represented on the academic all-district squad.
This season, Pitsch has appeared in 26 of 27 matches with 23 starts, totaling 89 games played thus far. With 994 assists on the year, she is averaging 11.17 per game and has tallied 40 or more assists 12 times, posting a season-best 53 on two occasions. She also leads the Bison in service aces with 35 for an average of 0.39 per game and holds an average of 2.16 digs per game.
Pitsch, who set the program record for assists in a season in 2006 with 1,199, is closing in on the Bucknell career mark as well as she is currently second on the all-time list with 2,785. She is 287 shy of breaking the program's career record, currently held by Amy Turnshek '98.
In the classroom, the co-captain carries a 3.58 grade-point average as a double major in English and History. Pitsch, a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and Dean's List student, is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority has taken part in the Emerging Leaders Program and has tutored for Bucknell Buddies.
