
Bucknell Women's Indoor Track & Field Squad Finishes Day Two of Bison Open and Penn State National Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa - Senior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) and Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) notched steller performances in their respective events on Saturday as the Bucknell women's indoor track and field team completed the final day of competition at the Bison Open and Multi and the Penn State National Invitational.
Grap, who already holds the Bucknell record in the 20-lb weight throw, broke a seven-year-old mark in the shot put after launching a distance of 46 feet, 2 inches (14.07m), which was good for second. She posted an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw with a length of 64-3 ¾ (19.60m). At the Penn State National Invitational, Buczko won the pole vault after clearing a height of 13-3 ¾ (4.06m), which made her an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifier.
Also at Penn State, Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) claimed first in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10 minutes, 4.45 seconds, which moves her into sixth place in school history. Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) qualified for the ECAC Championships after running a time of 2:10.77 in the 800, which was good for seventh place. In the one-mile run, Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) finished fourth with a time of 5:00.32 and qualified for the ECAC Championships.
In the Bison Open and Multi, freshman Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) marked a first-place showing in the 500 with a time of 1:19.46. In the mile, sophomore Gillian Nordquist (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) placed fourth, crossing the line with a time of 5:15.82. The quartet of sophmores Jessica Hibbert (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) and Caroline Strunk (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) and freshmen Laura Cundey (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) and Devon Welstead (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) placed third in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:38.54. Junior Ashley Curry (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown) cleared a height of 10-10 (3.30m) in the pole vault, which was good for fourth place.
The Bucknell women's indoor track and field team will participate in its first meet away from the Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Akron Open in Akron, Ohio. The meet is slated to start at 10:30 a.m.
