LEWISBURG, Pa. - After spending last weekend on the road at the Hoosier Duals, the Bucknell wrestling squad will return home to Davis Gym this Saturday, Dec. 2, for a tri-meet with Princeton and Binghamton. The Tigers and Bearcats will start things off with their dual at 3:30 p.m., followed by Bucknell versus Princeton at 5 p.m. The Bison will then close out the meet against Binghamton at 6:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day, there will be a special dedication ceremony, recognizing former Bison wrestler Bill Graham '62 for his contributions to the program by renaming the Bucknell wrestling room as the William A. Graham IV Varsity Wrestling Room, in his honor. Graham played a pivotal role in bringing back Bison wrestling as his generous donation helped Bucknell return the team to varsity status in addition to providing funding for Bison women's athletics programs.
The Orange and Blue enter Saturday's competition with a record of 3-5 (0-1 EIWA), while Princeton is 0-4 (0-0 EIWA) and Binghamton, yet to compete in a dual, is 0-0. The Bison have already faced some of the Bearcats' grapplers at the Navy Classic on Nov. 18, where Bucknell posted a combined record of 5-0 in its bouts against Binghamton opponents.
Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway), who earned a No. 18 national ranking this week at 165 lbs in the first InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings of the season, leads the Orange and Blue with a 10-2 overall record, including 6-2 in duals.
Current Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week, Eric Lapotsky (Mount Carmel, Pa./Mount Carmel Area) is 8-3 (5-2 duals) at 197 pounds and has a squad-best six pins on the year. Lapotsky pinned Binghamton's Ed Backus in 34 seconds at the Navy Classic on his way to a runner-up showing at the tournament.
Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards), Bucknell's projected starter at 125, holds an overall record of 5-8 (2-6 duals), with one of his wins coming over Binghamton's Mike Kleeman via pin in 2:24 at the Navy Classic. Hart and Kleeman are expected to square off again on Saturday.
David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central) is second on the squad with an overall record of 9-6 (3-5 duals) and placed fifth at the Navy Classic where he recorded a 3-0 victory over Binghamton's Kareem Naguib. The two will likely face off in a rematch this Saturday at 133.
Zach Galligan (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack), Michael Guttilla (Ingamer, Pa./Blair Academy), Brantley Hooks (Spartansburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes), Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills), George Mann (Orange, Ohio/Orange) and George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), round out Bucknell's projected starters at 141, 149, 157, 174, 184 and 285, respectively.
The Bison will take to the road for its next five competition dates, beginning with a dual at Franklin & Marshall on Dec. 5, and are slated to return home on Jan. 19, 2007, when the squad will face Liberty and Millersville beginning at 6 p.m. in Davis Gym.
