LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior libero Kristen Sydlowski (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) earned Patriot League Volleyball Baden Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday. The award was the first career PL accolade for Sydlowski and marked the third time this season that a member of the Bison was recognized by the league with a weekly award.
In a 1-0 week for the Orange and Blue, Sydlowski averaged 6.33 digs per game and 1.00 service aces per game as she finished with 19 digs and three service aces in Bucknell's 3-0 victory over Colgate.
Sydlowski's 19 digs in the match brought her season total to 544, passing the Bison single season record of 528 set by Susie Teitsworth in 1995. She also tied the Patriot League record held by Army's Margaret Stewart, which has stood for 15 years.
Sydlowski will have the opportunity to break that mark as the Orange and Blue have two regular season contests remaining and are guaranteed at least one postseason match, after clinching a Patriot League Tournament berth for the seventh consecutive season this past weekend.
Bucknell will next travel to Washington, D.C., on Friday, Nov. 10, to face American and then close out the regular season schedule in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 11, against Navy. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts.
