LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling squad, which went 2-1 in its first weekend of dual meet competition since reinstatement, will make its home debut this coming Tuesday, Nov. 21, with a home meet against EIWA foe Army beginning at 7 p.m. in Davis Gym.
To honor the occasion, the Bison will hold Community Day that evening, inviting fans to come celebrate and show support for the return of collegiate wrestling to Lewisburg. Several promotions will be run throughout the match including "lucky seat" and trivia contests.
Under the direction of head coach Dan Wirnsberger, the Bucknell pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind win over Maryland in its first dual of the year. Freshman Eric Lapotsky, from nearby Mount Carmel, Pa., clinched the victory by pinning the Terapins' highly-touted redshirt freshman Hudson Taylor 1:05 into the bout between the 197-pounders.
Two-time Pennsylvania state champion Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) went 3-0 in the quad meet and, in his first match as a Bison, upset Jason Kiessling, a fifth year senior from Maryland who is currently ranked 15th in the nation.
Bucknell's matchup with the Black Knights on Tuesday marks the first of five home dates on the schedule for the Orange and Blue in 2006-07. Admission to all Bison wrestling meets is free of charge.
