LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two Bucknell volleyball players were named to the 2006 All-Patriot League teams, the League office announced on Wednesday. Junior outside hitter Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) represented the Bison on the first team squad, while senior libero Kristen Sydlowski (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) earned a spot on the second team.
The honors, which are the first career All-League accolades for both student-athletes, mark the first time since 2003 that multiple members of the Orange and Blue have been recognized by the league with postseason awards. Four Bison were selected to the All-Patriot League teams in 2003 with Jackie Leahy and Brandi Trapasso being named to the first team and Breean Trapasso and Chelsea Anderson picking up second team honors.
Henderson finished the regular season with a team-high 380 kills for an average of 3.92 per game, 4.40 per game against Patriot League opponents. She ranks fifth in the league in kills per game and also contributes 2.42 digs per game and 0.31 service aces per game, good for second and third, respectively, on the Bucknell squad. On the year, she has posted 10 double-doubles and was named Patriot League Player of the Week on two occasions.
Senior Kristen Sydlowski was an All-Patriot League Second Team selection.
Sydlowski, who earned Patriot League Player of the Week recognition once this season, also leads the team in service aces with 40, for an average of 0.39 per game.
Bucknell will next travel to Washington, D.C., on Friday, Nov. 17, for the Patriot League Tournament where the team will be the No. 3 seed and will face No. 2 seed Army in an 8 p.m. match on the court in American's Bender Arena.
