Bison Men's Track and Field Places Sixth at Patriot League Championships

EASTON, Pa. - The Bison men's track and field team finished off two days of competition at the Patriot League Championships, Saturday at Fisher Field in Easton, Pa. The Bison finished sixth overall with 38 points. Army won the competition with a total of 226, with Navy in second with 194.
Josh Kaehler was the highest Bison finisher in Saturday's throwing events, placing fourth in the javelin with a heave of 197-8 (60.24), a personal-best and the best Bucknell mark this season.
Drew Folk added four points in the field, posting a fourth-place finish in the high jump. The senior jumped a season-best mark of 6-6 ¾ (2.00m) in his final Patriot League competition. Elsewhere in the jumps, Thomas Bennett finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 44-0 ¾ (13.43m). Folk just missed another scoring finish placing seventh with a jump of 43-0 ¼ (13.11m).
Matt Forys got the Bison off to a good start, scoring in the first track event of the day. Forys earned sixth-place honors with a strong finishing kick, clocking a time of 9:20.61. The team of Matt Johnson, Matt Corbetta, Eric Guja, and Robert Haferd also earned a point for the Bison, placing sixth in the 4x100-meter relay in a Bucknell season-best time of 43.43.
Matt Corbetta was the lone Bison scorer in the sprints, recording a sixth-place showing in the 200-meters with a time of 22.93. The Bison team of Brian Mooney, Faizal Asumda, Koran Evans and Corbetta also added a point in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking a time of 3:24.23.
Another Bison came close to a picking up some points was Kyle McLaughlin, who missed seventh in the javelin with a total score of 4642. Ryan Whitfield also placed seventh, finishing the 400-meter hurdles in 55.88.
The Bison will head to the IC4A Championships next weekend in Princeton, N.J. Bucknell athletes who have met the event's qualifying standards will be eligible to compete.
