Chelsea Anderson Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell volleyball senior Chelsea Anderson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and garnered a First Team All-League selection, the League office announced on Wednesday.
Anderson receives her second All-League recognition of her career as she was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team in 2003. She also becomes the second Bison to be honored as the League's top defensive player as 2004 graduate Brandi Trapasso earned the award as a freshman while simultaneously being named Rookie of the Year.
Anderson finished the regular season ranked second in the League with 4.38 digs per game and fourth in service aces with an average of 0.58 per game. Her aces total ranked 20th in the last NCAA statistics report as well. She has seen action 96 games for the Orange and Blue so far in 2005 and posted 10-plus digs in 22 of her 27 matches during the regular season. Anderson recorded a season-high six service aces in a 3-2 win over Navy on Sept. 24, and her season-best digs total of 26 came in a 3-1 victory over Colgate on Oct. 15.
Bucknell will next travel to Washington, D.C., on Friday, Nov. 18, for the Patriot League Tournament where the team be the No. 4 seed and will face No. 1 seed American in a 6 p.m. match.
