Cindy Opalski Collects Career Win No. 300 as Bucknell Volleyball Tops Niagara, 3-1

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Jenna Henderson belted 22 kills to help Bucknell head coach Cindy Opalski earn career victory No. 300 Friday evening, a 3-1 decision over Niagara in the opening match of the Bucknell Invitational.
Niagara (1-7) hit .448 in the opening game and won 30-22 for an early 1-0 lead. Bucknell (5-3) quickly cooled off the Purple Eagles attack, however, and captured the final three frames by scores of 30-21, 30-21 and 30-25.
Henderson hit .436, set a career high with 22 kills and also chipped in nine digs. Jackie Leahy added 11 kills while Amanda Grossmann had a strong match with eight kills, a .353 hitting percentage and three blocks. Grossmann's shared block with Sarah Groman closed out the match.
Jessica Le dished 51 assists, while Carolyn Dougherty had a team-high 14 digs.
Erin Graham led Niagara with 17 kills while Michelle LeSouder added 15. Micole Daluisio led all players with 17 digs.
Bucknell hit .218 for the match, while Niagara hit .162. The Bison limited the Purple Eagles to a -.057 percentage in game two.
Opalski is in her 15 season at Bucknell. She won her first 92 contests during a four-year stint at Clarion and is now 208-204 at Bucknell.
On Saturday, the Bison are slated to face Cornell at noon and Duquesne at 4:30 as tournament play continues in Davis Gym.
