LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell baseball team (15-9, 6-2 Patriot League) earned 22 poll points but just missed the top 15 for the second-straight week in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Northeast poll released Tuesday. The Bison had been ranked No. 15 in the poll earlier this season, but were three points out of the poll this week.
Voters acknowledged Bucknell for their fine season to date, most recently a 3-2 week versus Mount St. Mary's and Lehigh that included a no-hitter by Bucknell senior pitcher Matt Daley. Bucknell's poll standing could improve remarkably with a successful weekend this Friday and Saturday at Army, one game ahead of Bucknell in the Patriot League standings and No. 14 in the Northeast poll.
The Bison are scheduled to play against local rival Susquehanna on Wednesday afternoon in Lewisburg at 3:30 p.m. Friday's doubleheader at Army will begin at 1 p.m., with Saturday's first pitch scheduled for noon. Saturday's twinbill can be heard on www.BucknellBison.com and WMLP-1380 AM in Lewisburg with play-by-play man Doug Birdsong and color analyst Chris Duffany.
