Three Bucknell Student-Athletes Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three more Bucknell student-athletes have earned spots on CoSIDA Academic All-District teams. Chelsea Robertson (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) of the volleyball team and football's Mike Cangelosi (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and Justin Gibson (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) garnered District II honors.
Robertson, a second-team all-district honoree, is a starting right-side hitter for the Bison volleyball team, and will help lead her squad into the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 3 seed this weekend. Robertson has played in 98 of a possible 99 games this season for the 14-12 Bison, and has posted career highs in kills (148), hitting percentage (.174), and service aces (26). She has reached double figures in kills and digs five times each, including a double-double (career-high 11 kills, 12 digs) against regular-season champion American on Oct. 9.
Robertson is also a terrific student, compiling a 3.81 grade-point average as a computer science engineering major. She is a perennial Dean's List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, and she was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. Robertson has volunteered her time as the coach of an 8-10 age group softball team, as well as at National Night Out, where she fingerprinted children in Tonowanda, N.Y.
Cangelosi, a junior who has played both running back and wide receiver this season, and Gibson, an offensive tackle, both earned first team honors and are now eligible for national CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Cangelosi is a management major with a 3.45 cumulative grade-point average. He has played in all 10 games this season, including five starts, and he is the only player on the squad to have a touchdown rushing, passing and receiving. He has caught seven passes this season for 66 yards, with the biggest a diving fourth-quarter TD reception that accounted for the winning points in a 21-20 Patriot League victory over Fordham on Nov. 6. He also has rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown and has completed 2 of 3 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns on halfback option plays.
Off the field Cangelosi is a member of the Dean's List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and he volunteers at a local YMCA.
Gibson is a member of the Academic All-District Team for the second straight year. He as appeared in all 10 games, five as a starter, for the 6-4 Bison. He has helped the team to a No. 10 national ranking rushing yards per contest (251.5). Bucknell has topped the 200-yard rushing plateau in 7 of 10 games this season, including a season-high 413 at Holy Cross on Oct. 30.
An accounting major with a 3.77 GPA, Gibson is a member of the Dean's List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He completed a summer internship with Deloitte accounting firm last summer, and he has been selected to participate in Johnson & Johnson and PricewaterhouseCoopers case competitions.
In order to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.20 GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team.
Bucknell has had 107 Academic All-Americans since 1970, third-most in the nation among Division I programs, behind only Nebraska and Notre Dame.
