Bucknell Volleyball Earns Second Win of Season, Beats Loyola 3-1

Baltimore, Md. - The Bucknell women's volleyball team beat Loyola College, 3-1, on Wednesday evening at Reitz Arena in Baltimore, Md. Despite Loyola's victory in game one, the Bison responded with three straight wins to earn their second victory of the year. Bucknell broke a four-match losing skid to start the season with a win last week at St. Francis (Pa.)
Loyola (0-8) took game one, 30-26, but Bucknell (2-4) took game two 30-26, game three 30-27, and game four 30-21 to win the match. Jackie Leahy led the team on offense, hitting .349 for the match with 20 kills. Jennie Smith recorded a match-high five service aces, and Chelsea Anderson led all defenders with 20 digs.
The Bison will return to action on Friday and Saturday when they host the Bucknell Invitational. Bucknell, Howard, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Dartmouth will all play three matches each over the two days. Bucknell's first match is at 6:30 p.m. against Howard. Dartmouth and FDU will follow at 8:00 p.m. to close the evening. On Saturday, Howard and FDU will play at 10:00 a.m., followed by Bucknell and Dartmouth at 12:30 p.m., Dartmouth versus Howard at 3:00 p.m., and Bucknell versus FDU at 5:30 p.m.
