Bucknell Women's Volleyball Drops Two in Fullerton

Fullerton, Calif. - The Bucknell women's volleyball team began its afternoon well against Fordham, but the Rams took the final three games of a heartbreaking five-game match to hand the Bison the loss. Later in the afternoon, the Cal State Fullerton Titans swept the Bison 3-0.
Against Fordham, the Bison were led in hitting by Breean and Brandi Trapasso, who hit .385 and .316, respectively. Breean Trapasso dished 50 assists to go with her five kills, while Brandi Trapasso logged 17 kills and 14 digs. Jackie Leahy had a team-high 21 kills and 24 digs.
Bucknell took game one against Fordham, 32-30 and followed that up with a 30-26 win to come within one game of clinching the match. But the Rams eked out a 30-28 win followed by a 30-14 triumph to send the match into a game-five tiebreaker, which they took 15-11. The Rams' leading hitter was Jamee Stimson, who swung at a .419 clip (15-2-31).
The losses dropped Bucknell to 0-4 overall, as the Bison were unable to pull out a victory on their California trip. Bucknell will try for its first victory of the season on Sept. 10 at Loyola of Maryland, and the Bison's home opener will be on Sept. 12 as part of the Bucknell Invitational against Howard.
