LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell volleyball co-captain Brandi Trapasso (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda H.S.) was named the Baden Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday after two strong performances last weekend against Navy and American.
Trapasso totaled 11 kills and 21 digs - impressive totals for a three-game match - in Bucknell's 3-0 victory over Navy on Friday night in Davis Gym. That win was the team's seventh in a row and upped their Patriot League record to a stellar 11-1.
A night later, in front of a large crowd at Davis Gym, Trapasso had 18 kills, 12 digs and hit .283 in a 3-1 loss to American, which is now 13-0 in league play.
Trapasso hit .269 for the week and averaged nearly five digs per game. For the season, she ranks seventh in the Patriot League in kills (3.29 per game) and third in digs (3.95). Earlier this season, she became the all-time digs leader in Bucknell and Patriot League history, and Trapasso is the only Bucknell player ever to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
The Bison (15-10, 11-2), who have clinched the No. 2 seed at the Patriot League Tournament (Nov. 22-23), face Saint Francis (Pa.) in a non-league contest Wednesday in Loretto, Pa.
