LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell volleyball player Brandi Trapasso (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 26 after breaking the Patriot League and Bucknell career digs record. Trapasso had 20 digs against Army on Saturday night, giving her 1,482 for her career. The previous record was held by Susie Teitsworth with 1,474 digs, set in 1996.
Trapasso also recorded her 1,000th kill in the match, putting her in fourth place in Bucknell history. By the end of the season, she figures to move past Katie Steele '96 (1,064 kills) into third place. The milestones came in a 3-1 win over the Black Knights, capping a weekend that saw Bucknell record a sweep and improve its record to 8-1 in conference and stay one match behind American in second in the Patriot League race. Against Holy Cross the previous night, Trapasso had a team-high 29 digs.
The Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week is chosen each week by the Bucknell Office of Athletic Communications. Last week's winner was another volleyball player, Becky Fisher, who was honored for achieving a career high in kills in a match with 17 against Colgate.
Trapasso and her teammates continue on the road next weekend, at Lafayette and Lehigh Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, respectively. The next homestand will be Bucknell's last of the regular season, when Navy and Patriot League-leading American visit Nov. 7-8.
