Bucknell Falls To Morgan State But Wins Over Central Connecticut

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's volleyball fell to Morgan State in five games, and came back with a 3-0 victory over Central Connecticut during the Bucknell University Volleyball Classic, on Saturday, Sept. 21. Junior Brandi Trapasso led the team with an impressive 30 digs against Morgan State.
Bucknell started the day with a 3-2 loss against Morgan State. The Bison pulled a 30-27 win in the first game. The Bears then came back to produce a 30-27 win for themselves. Bucknell claimed a 31-29 in game three of the day. Morgan State did not let up for the fact that they came back to grab a 30-25 victory over the Bison in the fourth game. During the fifth game of the day, the Bears finished the match capturing a 15-9 win over the Bison.
For Bucknell, Breean and Brandi Trapasso each marked a double double during the Morgan State match. Breean Trapasso led the team in assists tallying 46 and completing 14 digs, while Brandi Trapasso grabbed 14 kills and 30 digs. Jennifer Wrigley (16) and Chelsea Anderson (19) also claimed double digits in the dig column, while Melanie Ghiz produced 15 kills.
During the second match of the day for Bucknell, the Bison claimed a 3-0 victory over Central Connecticut. The Bison put it right to the point when they produced a 30-27, 30-28, and a 30-22 victory over the Blue Devils. Brandi Trapasso completed the match with 17 digs and 14 kills, while Ghiz tallied 14 kills for the Bison.
Bucknell will face two Patriot League opponents during the week of Sept. 23. The Bison will return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when they travel to compete against Patriot League rival Lehigh. The Orange and Blue will travel next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 28 to Lafayette.
