Shannon Ellis Joins Bucknell Volleyball Staff

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Shannon Ellis, a 2002 Brigham Young graduate, has been named the volleyball graduate assistant, announced head coach Cindy Opalski. While working with the team she will also be pursuing her masters degree in education counseling at Bucknell.
For two years of her collegiate career, Ellis played volleyball for Texas Christian University. While she was an athlete, Ellis was awarded Academic All-Conference honors from the Western Athletic Conference. She earned two varsity letters from TCU and was also a member of the Dean's List.
"As a scholar athlete and outstanding player in the WAC for the TCU women's volleyball team, Shannon brings a plethora of experience and talent to our program," stated Opalski. "We're excited about having her here and looking forward to benefiting from her teaching skills as well as her technical knowledge of the game."
Before arriving at Bucknell, Ellis specialized in physical education during her student teaching internship at Lehi High School in Lehi, Utah. She also coached the volleyball and softball teams at Lehi.
Ellis has been a coach and counselor at various camps, including the Debbie Sokol the Sandy Trout Volleyball camps. During the camps, Ellis coached players of all skill levels and taught skill fundamentals as well as advanced skills.
The Bison will host the Bucknell University Volleyball Classic on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Davis Gymnasium. The Orange and Blue will play Morgan State at 11 a.m. and face Central Connecticut at 3:30 p.m.
